Flowers for the Domovoi

Capelet with a simple knit-purl pattern in the body and a lace edging that has lovely points to it.

Pattern: my own idea from other patterns (see notes for details)

Finished: October 2008

Made for: Sionan

Yarn: Red Heart Soft Touch (100% acrylic; 290yds = 141g)
  • 2 skeins in "Wine"; 562 yds = 280g (skein size has changed since project was made)
Needle size: 4.5mm/ US 7

Notes: For Sionan I used the Domovoi Edging from Cheryl Oberle’s book “Folk shawls”, and in the panels of the body I inserted the flower motif from a sweater called “Fibonacci Flowers” by Elsebeth Lavold that was in Knitter’s magazine. (Issue 86, Spring 2007)
She really liked this, especially the color which is not as pinky as it looks in my photos. It’s actually a very rich red- just lighter than burgundy.
