Aisling shawl

Close up of the two main lace patterns; the upper one is fanned shaped and known as "Mediera lace", possibly after the lace fans Spanish ladies carried

Pattern: Aylesbury Shawlette by Ruby Sasha (Only available on Ravelry)

Started: June 22, 2010

Finished: August 2, 2010

Made for: Síle aka me

Yarn: Fiddlesticks Knitting Lace Sensation (100% silk; 262yds = 50g)
  • 2 balls of "320 Iris" = 524 yds
Needle size: 3.75mm/ US 5

Notes: printed 4/10/10; yarn arrived 6/21/10 :)
6/22/10: Cast on on the bus going from work to dance class :D Have completed rows 1 to 24 of ChartA. Will try to get pic up tomorrow :)
6/23/10: Stopped at GW this morning & bought a bamboo circ as the sts kept trying to jump off the aluminum one I started with. Yarn seems a bit more under control now :)
7/03/10: Am nearly finished chart A :) I’m considering doing 2 reps of chart B, as I have more than enough yarn. We shall see :)
7/05/10: Joined in 2nd ball at start of Chart B row 25. Definately enough yarn to 2 reps of chart B!
7/06/10: 2 new pics up today :) Taken at knit-night last night.
7/12/10: Started chart C ie edging yesterday coming home from Moose Jaw. Not too much to go :)
7/19/10: Got half way through edging & realized 1) I made a fairly large mistake in the final section of chart B & 2) I was going to run out of yarn. So now I need to work up the nerve to frog back to the end of the first rep of chart B & go straight to the edging.
7/27/10: I frogged back on Saturday! I have just passed the spine, so am a touch over half done the edging :) I’m really loving this pattern :)
7/30/10: I have 5 points left!!!!!! Will be done later today or early tomorrow. Then I need to find a safe place for blocking…
8/02/10: Finished!!! Got knitting done tonight at knit-night :D Still need to block, but will worry about that later.

6/22: the start!

Close up of the lace pattern on Chart A. It looks sort of like little megaphones with a soundwave coming out of the end
