Pooka Jacket

Pattern: Celtic Horse Jacket by Mary Maxim (bought as a kit)

Finished: October 1, 2004

Made for: Síle aka me

Notes: got this as a kit in Summer of 1999. Finally got around to knitting it in 2004; the hem is dated Oct. 1, 2004. I know I got it in 1999, because my Pooka passed away in Feb of 2000, & I received it before she got sick. I call it my Pooka Jacket after her because she kept trying to sleep in the bag with the yarn.
I modified several bits of this from the original: I used a hemmed edge rather than ribbing; I added cables to the sides of the back, and I added the 2 decorative motifs one on the right pocket & one on the left sleeve. To give the horse a bit of character I gave her a green eye instead of a dark brown one. By the 2nd photo you can see where I added my initials and the date I finished the sweater, knitted into the hem a la Meg Swansen’s book.
(originally added to R@velry on September 28, 2009)
